2024 - 07 / 2024 - 10 | Personal Art Exhibition | Akmenė Regional Museum

"Art, design, and photography – three muses complementing each other – have arrived at the Akmenė Regional Museum together with the works of Rūta Kraujutytė (Rūta Krau), filling the small exhibition hall.

Having spent her early years in Akmenė, Rūta Kraujutytė has exhibited her works in various corners of the world, including Venice and Sydney, and is now presenting them in her father's homeland.

The exhibition will greet you with otherworldly paintings from the "Visions" and "Reflections" series, combining abstraction and symbolism, with their subjects inspired by meditation. The process of creating these mixed-media works, combining watercolors and digital art, is meticulous and can take several months.

The second part of the exhibition – the "Invisible" series – tells stories by combining photography and drawing in a single work, where the artist subtly blends the documentary frame of the camera lens with an internally generated image.

The final highlight of the exhibition is the series "Portraits: Formed in Concrete," captured with a camera on two continents, taking us to architectural monuments in various countries. We might not realize that concrete is the second most commonly used material on Earth, giving each structure its own unique face that changes depending on the intensity of light and other environmental factors.

The artist, Rūta Kraujutytė, introduces herself as follows: "From childhood, I was surrounded by art. Starting with watching my grandfather create impressive wood and graphic design works, and ending with my studies at Kaunas Art Gymnasium, which allowed me to experiment with various visual art forms. This encouraged me to obtain a bachelor's degree in architecture and later gain creative and life experience in Denmark, Canada, and New Zealand. After seven years of living abroad, I am happy to share my work in my homeland. Through my art, I invite you to delve deeper into the knowledge of Self and the Universe. To regain faith in oneself and remember that we are more than just our bodies. I invite you to reclaim joy, power, and responsibility for your life. To choose light and play with it."

We invite you to visit the exhibition starting July 23rd. A meeting with the artist will take place on July 27th (Saturday) at 4 PM at the Regional Museum."
